GDPR – what is it and how does it affect your nursery?

You might have heard the letters GDPR being spoken about over the past year and have wondered what it means and if it impacts you.

The fact is, GDPR affects all of us; as businesses and as individuals.

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation.

It is a new regulation that replaces the old (and outdated) Data Protection Directives that is coming into place in May 2018. GDPR protects the data of everyone in Europe, which means that even when dealing with companies across the pond or further afield, your data is still protected under the new regulations.

Whether you are an international chain or a single site pre-school, you hold data on your staff, parents and children and as such you need to make sure you are compliant.

Unfortunately there are no set rules that you must abide by to be complicit with GDPR, it is more of a guidance to how you should behave and what you should consider when handling personal data. There are however, large penalties if you are found to not be GDPR compliant.

With this in mind we have created an eBook to help nurseries understand what GDPR means to them, and suggest changes and considerations that should be made to make sure your nursery is compliant before 2018.
