Sustainability Activity of the Week: Water Bubble Art

We think it’s important to provide useful resources for early years practitioners, childminders, and parents in terms of sustainability – and this series aims to bring you easy crafts and activities that will teach children about sustainable living.

Playing with colour is always a good activity for children as it stimulates their senses and allows them to hone some motor skills and creative thinking. This easy activity can be quite messy, so we would recommend doing it outside.

Safety First!

Make sure children don’t put paint in their mouths.

Water Bubble Art

What you’ll need:

  • A tuff tray
  • Water
  • Washing liquid
  • Child safe paint
  • Paper straws
  • Paper

Method:

  1. Fill a tuff tray with water.
  2. Add some paint into your tuff tray as well as some washing up liquid.
  3. Encourage children to use a straw to blow bubbles into the paint.
  4. Demonstrate how to place paper down onto the bubbles and paint to create fun patterns and colours.

Join us next week for another sustainable early years activity, and if you try this out, don’t forget to tag us on Instagram @ConnectChildcare. Have you seen our other garden themed activities? We have a FREE Gardening Activity Guide ideal for spring weather and sensory development.
