5 Mother’s Day Card Ideas For Children
Mother’s Day is almost here, and you might be starting to plan your card making afternoon at your nursery setting or your home. What better way to make a Mum feel special than to receive a lovingly handmade card from her children?
Spending some time creating beautiful handmade cards for mothers and other maternal figures is a valuable activity that can bring you closer to the children’s families. Today we have a few colourful and fun ideas that will allow children to show their creativity.
Finger Print Family
What you’ll need:
- Paints
- Card
- Markers or felt tips
Method
- Set up a paint palette with different coloured paints.
- Allow children to dip their finger in and press down to make a finger print for each member of their family.
- Use a marker or felt tip to draw stick figures for each member of the family.
- Add a message to the card!
Paper Flower Bouquet
What you’ll need:
- White card
- Coloured card
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pens
Method
- Cut a piece of paper into a semi circle. Roll the semi circle into a cone and glue to secure.
- Glue your cone shape onto your white card – this will act as your bouquet.
- Draw and cut stems and flowers out of coloured cards and then stick them all in the bouquet.
- Use the pen to write a message on the card.
Balloon Bunch
What you’ll need:
- Coloured card
- Black felt tip
- Glue
- Scissors
Method
- Cut circles out of a few different coloured card pieces. These will be your balloons.
- Add drops of glue randomly to a piece of white or coloured card, and then stick down your balloons to form a bouquet.
- Once dry, use your green pen to draw lines from the balloons down, and then draw a stick person holding the balloons.
Pom Pom Bouquet
What you’ll need:
- Coloured pom poms
- Glue
- Card
- Green felt tip
Method
- Add random drops of glue to your card, and then glue on your pom poms to make a bouquet.
- Once dry, use the green pen to draw stems, and add leaves and a bow.
- Add a lovely message for Mother’s day.
Hand Print flowers
What you’ll need:
- Paints
- Card
- Paint brushes
Method
- Allow children to make 3-4 hand prints onto a piece of card, and then paint a green stem from each downwards on the page.
- Add a message for Mother’s Day.
